1960's
For young girls in the early 60's, clothing pretty much only consisted of plain, simple box dresses. They consisted of very little pattern or decoration as most were home-made by their mothers. Long white socks were also popular for girls in dresses.
However, later into the sixties and as girls got older, fashion throughout began to change. Clothing became more London Fashion inspired. This reflected not only in adults, but children as well, especially teenagers. Materials and manufacture was changing. This meant that bright colours and intricate patterns became popular among girls clothing. Short "Mini" skirts and crop tops were introduced to teenagers for the first time.

The early 1960's didn't see much change in young boys fashion either. Clothing was very plain, with grey being a common colour. Shirts and shorts/trousers were obviously popular although shorts were often just trousers cut down. Waist coats and long grey socks were also common. However, as fashion changed later into the 60's, young boys weren't really as affected as any other type of person. Teenage boys started to follow in the male adults footsteps with the new tighter trousers and pea coats. Again, the new fashion was very London inspired.
Today
Today's fashion, although still somewhat inspired by the sixties, is very, very different. Girls today are rarely found in dresses and boys have taken on a much more casual approach to fashion. Technology means that most clothing now comes with a picture or text printed onto it, something that wasn't possible in the 1960's. The idea of mini skirts however, has been carried through. Girls skirts and shorts are just as short as they had been when the idea was introduced in the sixties. Bright colours also play a big part. Babies clothes still have their main colours of pale pink and blue.
